Established in 2017 by Andrew Ha, HB Entertainment is dedicated to empowering student communities and aspiring creatives; The company has curated over 120+ live events which has provided a unique platform of experience and opportunities for its community. These experiences include music festivals, nightlife events, and custom fundraisers for the student community.
As a first generation Asian-American, Andrew Ha had to overcome adversities that inspired him to create a platform for Asian-Americans specifically for artists and creators. The reason for this is because Andrew has dedicated his life to pursue his dreams of DJing and being a performer. The company focuses on minority groups with an emphasis on the Asian-American community and the platform is in action across the west coast of the United States.
The company's story began when Andrew was in college and his friends took him to his first music festival. From there it was love at first sight - the culture, the energy and the community were the main things that made him fall in love with this industry. This inspired him to dive headfirst into the opportunity by becoming a great DJ which made sense especially coming from a Hip-Hop and B-boy background.
“I feel that music festivals in their own way are like heaven on earth because when you're inside you escape from reality and just enjoy the music for the night” says Andrew Ha.
Getting started in this area was not easy. Andrew and his friends tried for months sending emails to get into clubs with no luck at all. The reason is because it’s very difficult for a 'no-name DJ' to get an opportunity to perform in these clubs or music festivals. Andrew never intended to start a company. I just wanted to follow my passion,' as Andrew explains about the birth of HB Entertainment.
Following a passion to perform for large audiences and help new artists is one of the main reasons HB Entertainment was created. The factors that were important to the creation were the collectives of DJ's and various content creators.
“It was very challenging. We were all new to creating events and didn't really know what we were doing. After a lot of networking within the industry, we got the contact information of the owner of AD nightclub in San Diego and that's where it all started” says the CEO.
At this point Andrew realized that he could bring this experience to even more people and discover even more talents that were still lacking opportunities in the music industry. Currently this platform has hosted 100+ concerts, thrown 300+ fundraisers for college organizations, totaling over 75,000 attendees throughout 3 major cities: San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles.
Furthermore the company works with DJs, producers and singers including Yetep, DJ Kaku, and leading Cambodian American rapper Stupid Young. All of these artists are part of the ecosystem created by the platform to leverage the events taking place in the United States.
The company's work does not stop there. Besides already being inserted in the music industry, the goal is to expand the platform even more so that it doesn’t only embrace just a single community of people. The goal is to reach out to all creative communities in order to provide a platform with a desirable experience for everyone: to discover more young talents and creatives, whether they be musical or not.
